This is easily the best written short story on this forum. It flows magically from scene to scene, drawing in the reader with an almost mystical invitation. You painted a beautiful picture of Hull and its people and of the remarkable relationship between Eugene and the person whose name we never learn. A name best left unspoken, for the emotions you invoke are name enough. Well done.
