The fact that animals are more than what humans in their vanity think they are, and the notion that humans are definitely less that what they pretend to be is depicted very nicely.
Perhaps you've seen the picture where a group of chimpanzees are mourning a deceased group member, a female who was respected by all group member. Their expressions are very recognizable, very human.
However, I doubt that chimpanzees have the intellectual capability of wondering about the stars, and day and night. I don't think they have burial rites as we know them.
Anyway, it is a touching story. I like it!
