Good points, Jacob, especially the point about publishing. I would hesitate before posting anything I thought might be worthy of being submitted elsewhere.

I actually quite like the design, and the comments on specific paragraphs is an excellent idea.

So this isn’t an article, per se, but rather an discussion of thoughts/opinions on Writer’s Pub as a website.

First and foremost it is absolutely imperative that stories/articles be locked up somehow. Under current guidelines, stories posted on a publically veiwed web site are considered ‘published’. so that story you were working on for that anthology? They won’t take it because they want first time rights, and it was already published.

If it is locked away for peer review and such, then it is not considered published.

As for the site itself, so far it is good. While parts of it are not so attractive (UGLY! ok ok  I said it....) functionally it seems to work well.

Being able to comment on specific parts of the stories is fantastic, and probably one of the best features i’ve seen in a long time. I think it would be nice if all the comments could be viewed on one view (perhaps this is there, and I haven’t seen it yet?)

Integration with MacJournal? (hint, hint) I mean, I did write this post in MacJournal.
