Notes on the Existence of Justin

The Complete First Season

On the 29th of August, in the year 2008, Justin sat there, in his class, staring at the finished world map test.  The class sat there, each student minding their own business, some conversing with each other, and some just sitting by themselves.  Justin sat there, his mind straying, jumping from thought to random thought.  I think I forgot to make my bed…  Ah, who cares anyway.  Then, his mind strayed off to a different subject.  This subject was a different subject, a subject that he thought about when he was in need of some happiness, or when there was nothing to do.

Justin was a simple man, a man who didn’t need a lot, a man who cared about the people around him.  He was a man that desired life of quiet substance.  So the place in his mind that he went to was a simple place, a place where he could he could feel at peace.

He sat on a comfortable lawn chair, which was on the grass, overlooking a lake surrounded by dense forests and mountains.  The trees surrounding the grass and the house were dense, but there was one spot where you could look out and see the sunset, and the lake reflecting the crimson sun as if the water was glass mirror.  There was a small lingering breeze in the background and it caressed the trees and the grass it flowed around.  He heard a certain Land Rover pull up and stop on the dirt driveway.  A car door then closed and some footsteps were heard.

“Dang.  Look at that view,” Justin turned to see his friend Bently, “oh, Nicole is inside, she is just putting her things in her room.”

“Have you ever seen a grown man naked?” Justin asked.  Bently burst out laughing and he patted Justin on the shoulder.

“I’m leaving to go get Lindsie, she didn’t get off work until five.  I’ll be back around seven tonight.”  Bently said while he looked at the horizon.

“Sounds good.”  Bently began walking towards the Island Rover.

“No passionate kissing, hugging, or making out until I’m back to watch!”  Bently yelled as he stepped into the Island Rover.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.”  Justin waved goodbye and then settled back into his chair.  He stared out at the lake, which was so beautiful to him that the water felt like it was singing.  Silence filled the air around the singer, and then sun joined the lone singer with its low, crimson red baritone voice, creating a masterful duet.  The grass blades began blowing in the slow breeze, adding to the song a choir of voices.  As the song went on, in joined the forest and everything surrounding it, letting a symphony arise out of nature.  He closed his eyes to feel the song vibrate in him, as if part of him.  As the massive symphony of nature and the duet of continued, Justin felt a presence.  A soft, caring hand was placed on his shoulder and the song came to an abrupt halt.  He turned to see a woman of such beauty that nature stopped its harmonious work just to get a glimpse of her.  Nicole’s soft, brown skin on her hand caressed his shoulder.  Her deep green eyes seemed like an endless pit of joy and happiness has they stared into his.  Her hands moved around his neck, with his moving around her waist.  Every detail of their surroundings centered on this one moment.  They leaned in and kissed.  Her hands ruffled his red hair as they kissed and-.

JUSTIN!!!!!!  THE BELL RANG!!!!!! Aareon screamed in his face, with her scraggly hair and buck teeth.

* * * *

After the long day at school, and then at work, Justin was exhausted.  So he went downstairs and laid on his bed.  He was tired of school, even though it had just barely started, because the anticipation of the same day again and again.  But then, he smiled.  A though rushed through him, and he could feel its’ vibrant energy.  The lake.  The sweet grass.  The sunset that never seemed to set, as if it was hanging on to the sky, begging to stay.  And then Nicole.  The name of Nicole gave him a fuzzy feeling.  Nicole.  As he said it in his mind, he felt as if he was saying a name of the most beautiful girl in the world.    The name felt special, as if it was his own.  Then, he went back to the place he had ended before…

They kissed again, but this time, time seemed to slow, and every detail was centered on this one, simple, moment.  He wrapped his arms around her waist, and she wrapped her arms around his neck.  They looked at each other, and then he said, “What the heck is that on your face, did a rat decide to gnaw on part of your face?”  Nicole gave him a glare and then punched him in the face.

Justin shook himself awake.  There goes that relationship, he thought.  But within minutes his mind had gone back to the same though, but rewinded a bit.

They looked at each other, with the red dying sun giving its last breath to make her face look like an angle had come the heavens and had carved that face.

“I missed you.”  Nicole said smiling.

“Really?  Wow, that’s amazing!” Nicole hit him playfully.

“Oh, you want to fight?” Justin said, raising his eyebrows.

“No, I didn’t say tha-.  AHHHH, Justin, what are you doing?” Nicole said laughing as Justin brought her to the ground. “Justin, NO!  NO! Please! JUSTIN!” She yelled while laughing.  He stopped and then laid down on the grass beside her.  She scooted up next to him, and put her head on his shoulder.

“So, my lonely boyfriend, why couldn’t you pick me up in your fabulous MAV?”

“I had to come up here and reserve the house for the week.  Why, was there a problem?”

“No, no.  Bently is just interesting to talk to.  What does he do for a living?”

“Well, first of all, he owns the billion dollar corporation Skyline Industries, and he also does a million other things as well.  He has a doctorates degree in Neurology and in Infectious diseases.  Not to mention he also has a masters in Movie Production and in Graphic Design.”

“Lindsie is dang lucky girl, maybe I should become his girlfriend, because the my boyfriend could plus two plus two!”

“Hey!  I can’t believe that my girl is making fun of me!”

“Oh, don’t worry, you’re not that bad!”  She laughed and gave him a comfort kiss, her soft hands ruffling through his red hair.

Justin opened his eyes, and looked at the ceiling.  He smiled, closed his eyes, and then he drifted back into happiness….
